Kaitlyn and Charles had the most beautiful and intimate backyard wedding and approached the day in a way that was natural and authentic to them. They were married at Kaitlyn’s family’s home, amongst 35 of their closest family and friends. The weather report kept suggesting rain throughout the week, and we were so lucky to have a dry day with beautiful afternoon light!
The couple incorporated many special details into their wedding. They didn’t want traditional florals or cakes, but instead wanted greenery, plants and his mom’s baking talent. Kaitlyn’s mom arranged lovely plants in terra cotta pots along the dinner table and throughout their backyard. Charles’ mom baked delicious personal pies for everyone to enjoy after dinner. Kaitlyn’s brother-in-law is a musician and serenaded the guests with an acoustic set during the cocktail hour. And each guest went home with a small succulent to commemorate the day.
Kaitlyn and Charles wrote the most heartfelt vows they shared with each other against the wooded backdrop. After a champagne toast and cocktail hour, they all sat down at one long table to enjoy dinner together, under string lights and the mid-September evening air. Family and friends shared a few words during the toasts, highlighting the couple’s connection and journey together. I was touched by how much love surrounds Kaitlyn and Charles. As a Portland, Oregon wedding photographer, it was such a treat to document this intimate wedding.
